Hello for the first time in 2021 to all my readers out there. I’ve heard it said before that whatever you’re doing at the beginning of the year, you’ll be doing at the end of the year. This is one time I hope that is absolutely NOT true.

In the past few weeks, I’ve traveled to North Carolina, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia. As I traveled on for the holidays, the political madness began to unravel. It depended on who I was talking to as to whether the conversation was agreeable or an argument. Between the coronavirus and the election, things have been so screwed up over the past year, it’s hard to remember what “normal” ever was.

At the same time, I have to remember the good times of my travels. I visited my sister, nephews and brother-in-law in North Carolina. I had a wonderful Christmas there. I had a couple of “feeling old” experiences with my nephews as I attempted mountain biking with them, something I haven’t done in years. Good times to remember with my nephews all the same.

In Orlando and Largo, Florida, I met up with a couple of friends I haven’t seen in quite a while. It was good catching up with them, and at least I can say I was in Florida for New Years, although the celebration was nothing like the big parties of yesteryear. Again, good times all the same.

In my final round of travels, I was in Atlanta just before January 6, a day that will now live in infamy. Friends and family were concerned that I was going to be in Atlanta during the Senate race. As we all now know, the real trouble ended up happening at the Capitol building after Trump’s speech, and of course it depends on who you talk to as to whether he incited that riot. I just remember watching all of the mayhem on TV in complete and utter disbelief. I’ve never experienced a time like this where you don’t feel right believing in the President of the country. I mean, we’ve all had our gripes before I’m sure, but this fiasco is truly beyond belief. I’ll end my political rant there, that’s not what this blog is about.

With that all being said, I definitely have my hurdles to work out just as everyone else does with the cards we’ve been dealt. Times for me are uncertain, but in a good way. Let’s ride this out best we can, and hope for the best in this new year.
