Where to Begin

I’ve basically lived my life by making the most of my situation, and also looking forward to what improvements I can make, and how I can make them.  This page is a brief history of my perspective of how we’re taught in life, and how I’ve tried to look past the normal, because, well, I wouldn’t exactly call myself conventional to say it short and sweet.  I’m writing all of this to introduce where I’ve been, what I’m doing, and how I’m looking to move forward.

I started out just like everyone else, not sure what to do with myself.  I was taught to do right, go to school, get a good job, and everything would be alright as long as you fly right and do what you’re told.  Just be a good honest red blooded, God fearing, law abiding American citizen, and everything will come your way.

But of course, as we’ve all seen, regardless of where you come from and what your unique experience has been in life, the grim harsh reality settles in and crushes your spirit.  Now your work is your work, your job is your job, and just shut up and look busy to stay out of trouble, get your check, and mind your business.

I grew up far from the picture perfect neighbor next door, but I still did what you’re supposed to do in life, the basics of it anyway.  I went to college, did my best to make good grades while doing the typical college partying here and there (ok, maybe a little more than that at times), and graduated with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree.  The usual formula, if there is such a thing, just didn’t seem to take hold for me.  Maybe it was my rebellious nature, or maybe I just wanted something different than a house, family, dog, and white picket fence.

I did manage to do a few things differently in life.  I lived in Germany for a few years working for the US Army.  I traveled a bit in Europe while I was doing that so I could see a little more than the barracks.  I bought a house in Florida, which I still own.  But somehow I still winded up right back in the status quo.  Now it’s time to make things interesting again.

So, with that all being said, I’m in a situation where life is about to break out of the “norm”, whatever that is, and change dramatically.  I can only see it getting better, but whichever way it goes, it’s up to me to make it happen.  The purpose of my blog on this site is to document current situation, and where it’s going from here.
