Before I get going with anything else, I want to thank all of my readers again for the positive comments. I need them, and I’m begging for more. Of course, I need to give you all something to read and actually comment on to hold up my end of the bargain.
I was hanging out with my good long time friend sitting on his back porch, or veranda, or whatever it’s called in this part of the world, right at sunset. We talked about the different species of animals that live here in Sedona, then relationships, then politics, then astrology, then my situation in life at the moment. It always comes back to my predicament.
The very peaceful feel of the energy in the air here helps me to clear my head of all the unknowns coming up for me as I try to figure out what to do with myself in the upcoming months.
There’s a problem with my last statement. I said “figure out” what to do. I am a victim of trying to formulate a solution in my head by just letting my mental gears grind away until I come up with an answer. Maybe that would work if I was trying to solve some mathematical equation, if I was some sort of mathematical genius, which I’m not. There really is no figuring this out in that sense. With life you simply have to pick a direction and go from there. I’ll always remember Yogi Berra’s quote, “If you see a fork in the road, take it”. Yogi had some legendary quotes, God rest his soul, but that’s one I was told during my high school graduation ceremony (I think it was that particular commencement) that just seemed to burn itself into me like a branded calf. Pick a path, and make it so (yes, that was Captain Picard’s quote). That’s exactly what Yogi was talking about.
Don’t get me wrong, there are times you need to ponder, calculate, come to a conclusion as to which option is the best. It is also true, however, that sometimes you have to make your own path, like hacking your way through the jungle with a machete. That’s the delicate balance I have to strike here. There is calculation involved, but there will also be the point at which I have to see a fork in the road, and take it.
